The musical journey began at the Music School in Sežana, studying under professor Marija Maretić-Hiršter.
Further studies took place at the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet, where the guidance of professors Milena Lipovšek, Irena Kavčič, and Irena Rovtar shaped his musical knowledge and performing skills.
An is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with professor Mathieu Dufour, his previous professors being Benoit Fromanger and Renate Greiss-Armin.
Participation in masterclasses with experts like Philippe Bernold, Adriana Ferreira and William Bennett complemented his formal training.
Since 2016, playing with the ensemble Terrafolk has led to performances in several countries, including England, Poland, Serbia and Italy, collaborating with musicians such as Vlatko Stefanovski, Kate Young and Luka Šulić.
The Glasba Mladih project in Slovenia began in 2021, working with emerging young composers and instrumentalists.
The association with the Hanns Eisler Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra in Berlin includes performances of many classical works at the Konzerthaus Berlin which continued the exploration of classical repertoire.
A solo recital in Ljubljana in 2019 and participation in a woodwind orchestra tour through Belgrade, Greece, and Macedonia further expanded An's concert experience.
Recent projects feature a performance of György Ligeti's 6 Bagatelles and involvement in the Baroque project Stories of the Old World in Radovljica.
Awards from competitions in Slovenia, Italy and Serbia have recognized his musical achievements, as did being awarded a one-off scholarship from Insurance Triglav's programme Mladi upi and currently ongoing support from the Slovenian Ministry of culture.
His exploration of world and folk music has started primarly with his father Danijel Černe - Mystica, founding member and guitarist of the group Terrafolk, and later through taking part in workshops and festivals such as workshops and festivals Godalkanje, Etno Histeria and Floating Castle.
Recent recordings include playing in a chamber ensemble in the film Tár and collaborations with artists like Ana Mezgec and Boštjan Pertinač.
Since 2019, An has been leading his own workshops called ImprovizAncija, which focus on bringing improvisation and free playing closer to kids in musical education.
He has been working as a flute teacher in Berlin since 2022.
